For the past month and a half or so, I've had the opportunity to go to several concerts in, not only the area here, but also to one in Lynchburg; which is about a three and a half hour drive. And while most of them were very energetic and very loud, the last one finished it off perfectly. I saw skrillex(techno), RED(hard rock), Oh ,Sleeper(metal),...and last, but not least, Owl City(pop).
After jumping around, dancing, head banging, "moshing", crowd surfing, etc., it was nice to be able to just sway with the music and pretend that no care in the world could touch me at the moment. It was nice to close my eyes and enjoy the rythmic sounds coming from the violin/bass/keyboards on stage. It was nice to relax.
A lot of people nowadays have this mentality that "go go go" is all you need, when in reality, what we need, is to have a mixture of both "go go go" and "chillax". There needs to be equal levels of both the hard things of life, and the easier things. Because if all we go for are the hard things, we'll burn out quicker than anyone else and end up miserable for the rest of our lives. And if we go for only easier things in life, we'll never know what it's like to have a challenege and break it. We'll end up very pacifistic, and walking around looking like you've been stoned was never an ideal look anyways.
God does the same thing with both harsh judgement and mercy. He equally gives it to those who need it. He doesn't stay on one side or the other, he equally sways the pendulum. There is no left or right with God. He is his own side.
So enjoy your hard moments in life. Be thankful for them. But enjoy and be thankful for your softer parts of life too. Because we all know they don't come nearly as often as the hard parts.
